About MJ
Mary Jo (MJ) Penizotto, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and certified shamanic practitioner with over 30 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults and couples. Upon retiring from private practice in 2018, MJ found herself on the Shamanic path, completing the Foundation for Shamanic Studies Three-Year Shamanic Initiation Program in 2024.
Through MJ’s shamanic experiences, travels to sacred sites around the world, and intuitive connection with Divine Feminine Wisdom, she is stepping onto the path of wise woman elder, to share her authentic voice.
As a growing Oracle Teacher, she believes in the power of Spirit to awaken our soul’s missions. She is committed to cultivating peace through the inspiration of nature’s beauty, and is devoted to the Divine Feminine spiritual path. MJ's lived experience has taught her that deep change is possible and she holds hope for a more just and equitable world.
As a writer, MJ hopes that by sharing her experiences of awakening to ancient wisdom in Egypt and other sacred lands, you too will be inspired to discover and follow the call of your soul. She hopes to help you awaken your authentic self to live more fully awake, alive and free.
MJ lives in Buffalo, NY with her husband, Mick. They follow their hearts to California for frequent visits with their daughters, daughter-in-law, grand-dog and kitties. She participates in a psychology peer consultation group and is a group leader for WNY Psychologists for Dignity and Justice. MJ hosts small groups for women's spiritual development and participates in a shamanic long distance healing circle. She offers shamanic healing and divination for family and friends.
MJ is a spiritual travel adventurer who offers writings on her mystical journeys to further awaken the magic that resides in everyone.
Check out my collaborative Book coming SOON!
In this collaborative work, I share my deeply transformative experience, awakened by the sacred magic that resides in Egypt. My story is written to be energetic medicine, helping you awaken to your own soul's wisdom.
MJ's chapter in this book was born from the Ancient Divine Feminine Wisdom she received during her journey to Egypt in 2025. The mysteries that revealed themselves inspired her to reclaim the calling of her soul’s path. It was MJ’s intuition that inspired this amazing group of women to collectively share the wisdom received on the Mystery of the Great Goddess Tour where they met.
