About MJ
Mary Jo Penizotto, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and certified shamanic practitioner with over 30 years experience providing psychotherapy to adults and couples.
Upon retiring from private practice in 2018, Mary Jo found herself on the Shamanic path, completing the Foundation for Shamanic Studies Three-Year Shamanic Initiation Program in 2024.
Through Mary Jo’s shamanic experiences, travels to sacred sites around the world, and intuitive connection with Divine Feminine Wisdom, she is stepping onto the path of wise woman elder, to share her authentic voice.
As a budding Oracle Teacher, she believes in the power of Spirit to awaken our soul’s missions. She is committed to cultivating peace through the inspiration of nature’s beauty, and is devoted to the Divine Feminine spiritual path. Mary Jo's lived experience has taught her that deep change is possible and she holds hope for a more just and equitable world.
As a writer, Mary Jo hopes that by sharing her experiences of awakening ancient wisdom in Egypt and other sacred lands, you too will be inspired to discover and share your inner truth - to follow the call of your soul.
Mary Jo lives in Buffalo, NY with her husband, Mick. They follow their hearts to California for frequent visits with their daughters, daughter-in-law and grand dog and kitties. Mary Jo participates in a psychology peer consultation group, is a group leader for WNY Psychologists for Dignity and Justice, Mary Jo loves hosting small groups for spiritual development. She participates in a shamanic long distance healing circle, and offers shamanic healing and divination for family and friends.
She is a spiritual travel adventurer who plans to offer additional writings on her mystical journeys to further awaken the magic that resides in you.

Mary Jo's chapter in this book was born from the Ancient Divine Feminine Wisdom Mary Jo received during her journey to Egypt in 2025. The mysteries that revealed themselves inspired her to reclaim the calling of her soul’s path. It was Mary Jo’s intuition that inspired this group of women to collectively share the wisdom received on the Mystery of the Great Goddess Tour where they met.
